President Obama intends to propose three new data and privacy laws. The first would require companies that have been hacked to notify affected customers within 30 days. The second law gives people more control over the data companies gather about them. And the third illegalizes the sale of student data by educational software companies. Details of the plan are expected during a speech the president is scheduled to make at the FTC today, and also his January 20 state of the union speech.
