A Technology Podcast for the Android Faithful
The Android universe reaches far and wide, and from 2011 to 2023, All About Android covered every aspect of it. This tech podcast delivered everything you wanted to know about Android each week. Subscribers learned about the biggest news, freshest hardware, best apps, and geekiest how-tos. The show covered news related to Android, such as the development of the next OS version, new hardware launches from Google, Samsung, Microsoft, OnePlus, Motorola, Xiaomi, and more. The hosts also reviewed apps and services and included audience feedback and questions. Subscribers to the podcast were always one step ahead and fully informed of tech events such as Samsung Unpacked, Google I/O, Android Developer Summit, and more.
All About Android guests included the best in the industry that any Android user would be excited to hear from. Google's Hiroshi Lockheimer, Dave Burke, Stephanie Cuthbertson, and Chet Haase, just to name a few. YouTube Music Product Manager Brandon Bilinski joined the show at a key moment for the service when Google Play Music neared its sunset. Eric Migicovsky of the Pebble smartwatch fame hopped onto the show as he launched the new Beeper service. All About Android has also hosted many app developers, including Chris Lacy (Action Launcher), Koushik Dutta (ClockworkMod), Kevin Barry (Nova Launcher), Russell Ivanovic (Pocket Casts), and Luke Klinker (Klinker Apps). YouTube star Marques Brownlee appeared several times, as have tech journalists/pundits David Ruddock of Android Police, Ben Schoon of 9to5 Google, Juan Carlos Bagnell of SomeGadgetGuy.com, and Raymond Wong of Input Magazine. Bigtime leaker EvLeaks (Evan Blass) has also been a guest.
Another fun fact: starting in September 2017, with the unveiling of Android Oreo, a different Oreo flavor was tasted each week.
About the Podcasters
All About Android launched on March 28, 2011, with Jason Howell, Ron Richards, and Eileen Rivera as hosts. After Eileen left to pursue other opportunities, developer/entrepreneur Gina Trapani took her place as co-host. Gina stepped down in 2015, and tech journalist Florence Ion joined the show from September 2015 through September 2021. Android developer Huyen Tue Dao joined the show in January 2022.
Jason has been producing original video content for the web since 2005. During his five years at CNET, he produced tech shows and directed the company's podcast operations. Jason joined TWiT in 2010 as technical director, producer, and eventually, podcast host. High production value, a sense of humor, and an intimate listening experience are all top priorities for Jason. Jason is also a talented musician.
Ron has been a geek since infancy or, upon getting his first Apple II+ in 1982. Ron went on to co-found iFanboy.com in 2001 and began podcasting about comic books, geek culture, and technology in 2005. An Android user since day one on the G1, Ron has been reviewing Android apps and discussing tech since 2007. He's been a prolific podcaster, co-hosting All About Android as well as shows like Damn Fine Podcast, Goodfellas Minute, and Finale. He is currently the CEO and co-founder of Scorbit, connecting pinball machines to the Internet.
Huyen has worked primarily as an Android developer since 2011 and has been an avid technical speaker at Android conferences. She was accepted as a Google Developer Expert for Android in 2016 and a Google Developer Expert for Kotlin in 2017. In 2015 she co-created a YouTube channel called "Android Dialogs" centered around conversations with people in the Android community. In producing this channel, Huyen has traveled all over the world (often accompanied by her husband, Joshua, a fellow Android developer and her unpaid intern/production assistant), attending conferences and meetups and filming interviews with the diverse and brilliant people that work in Android and Kotlin.
